Drumming Up Comment

Well Bob is back and “we go on” as our Dutch agent Jos would say!!

It’s good to have Bob back in the saddle of course, but Geoff will be amiss with his “Milligan-esque” sense of humour. I enjoyed his time with us and playing a few different songs. Now we have to knuckle down and get some new songs in to freshen things up a bit. We have made a start and hope to have some new material in the show soon.

Many thanks to everyone who emailed to say how much they enjoyed the “Fortunes European Tour DVD”. It seems many of you were very impressed with that. In fact we are more or less running out of stock of that DVD so get your order in before it’s too late. Not sure if we will be ordering any more.

You will note from Michael’s remarks on the news page that I have another string to my bow these days. Leading directly from the Video productions for the Fortunes that I did along side Alex Hoek I have branched out a little and done a few Video Promotion productions via a small company I’ve set up called “Creative Cam Co”
Check out the website..www.creativecam.co.uk . So if any one out there wants something recorded for posterity on a dvd you know where to come.
In fact I did a video shoot the other day for an old compardre of mine, John Wilson.
I used to be in a band with him years ago called “The Dodgers” along side Bob Jackson and Roger Lomas. Roger was also at the shoot recording the audio for the DVD. Mick came along to help on one of the cameras. If Bob could have come to we could have had a proper reunion. John played a great set of interesting material, including some fine songs of his own, which I now have the pleasure of editing for a DVD.

Holidays are looming again …where did that year go? Busy filling up my MP3 player with all my favourite tunes. At the moment I have over three weeks worth of listening time loaded….will this be enough I wonder. Crazy isn’t it.

The world cup came and went and I was a bit disappointed with it on the whole. Not only did England fail to reach the semis and beyond, but we also had all this Red Card nonsense. Both Rooney and then most notably Zidane saw the red mist and reacted accordingly. Beautiful game eh? I don’t think so. Trouble was I invested in a High Definition TV to watch it on. Yes seeing someone get a Red card in HD really is special! So it’s onto the wild life channels where HD really does come into its own.

Who have I seen of late that impressed me? Well the usual suspects really. Went to Glasgow to see Jackson Browne with David Lindley. A very special night that turned out to be .I’d see either any time but to have both together was great and not to be missed. More recently caught Bonnie Raitt at Newcastle City Hall and she was in excellent form. Going to miss out on one of my all time favourites though. Randy Newman is coming to the “Sage” concert hall in Gateshead this month, but we have a gig to do. Oh well can’t have everything. There’s always Emmylou Harris at the end of the month.

Bye for now

Paul.
